What should I do about my so called friend?

I was at this party with my homeboys and we where wasted. And me and one of my friends who I thought I was close 2 got into a little argument it had to be about something dumb(I can't remember). So then he started yelling out personal stuff and there where about 50 people in the room. I wanted to retaliate but I found that to be female like and childish so I let it slide. My question is do you think I handled it right or I should of went off on him and kicked his ***??? And do you think I should still be friends with him or get rid of him??
