This is a serious question, is Brokencyde? a legitimate band or are they just like an internet joke?

I watched a video of them for the first time today (wish I didn't) and I was laughing hysterically for the first 30 seconds then I couldn't bring myself to listen to more. Like they're obviously a joke to the music industry but are they really a music act or just an internet joke because I really can't tell...I never heard of them until everyone on YA! started talking about them...
