My room is HOTT! How do i make my room cooler or more fresh? Will plants around the window help?

Im goin to buy an ac soon. well actually in a month or so. but damn my room is hot...and my room if the one facing the sunrise. Anyone know how to make the room cooler or fresher? Will puting tinted windows make it fresher? Will puting a white sheet on my window make it fresher? anyone got ANY advice watsoever? Plz dont tell me to buy an ac..i dont got the money at this moment.
